Woodridge Solar + Nature Park

Maddy Duval, Gwendolyn Hellen-Sands, Samie Hubbard, Sanika Mate

This proposal speculates Woodridge Solar’s future as an eco-educational and recreational hub. By partnering with surrounding landowners, schools, and the University of Virginia, this solar farm can host workshops, educational events, school trips, and community gatherings, making it more than an unsightly utility landscape, providing transparency for neighbors to understand where their energy comes from. Through the implementation of nature trails, educational space, pollinator gardens, a meadery, and recreational pavilions, Woodridge will become a Solar+ Farm that brings the community together in nature while providing education on the benefits of solar energy.
