The UVA Off Grid initiative focuses on providing essential services to the UVA community in the outdoor campus areas through the utilization of solar energy and remote facilities. The project operates on a circular energy enabling the Off Grod concept and strategically targets all available Parking and Rooftop Greyfields spanning the expansive UVA Campus of 1682 acres.
The pilot project is situated at the UVA Hospital Grounds serving as a prototype for the implementation of sustainable solutions across the campus. The primary objective is to enhance the student life experiences by providing upgraded remote facilities such as healing Landscapes, EV charging stations, Relaxation and Seating spaces, Upgraded Bus stands, Heating and cooling pods, and outdoor spart facilities (including Wi-Fi, automatic lighting, security cameras, speakers etc.) Additionally, the project encompasses health camp events and the provision of public toilets. By leveraging solar energy and implementing remote facilities the project aims to transform the UVA outdoor campus into dynamic ecofriendly space that enhances the overall experiences for the student staff and visitors.
